युरोपेली फुटबल महासंघ (युईएफए)ले अर्को वर्ष हुने उमेर समुहको यू–१७ फुटबल प्रतियोगिता रद्ध गरेको छ । कोरोनाको खतरालाई कारण देखाउँदै युईएफएले अर्को वर्ष हुने अन्डर–१७ युरोपियन च्याम्पियनसिप रद्ध गर्ने निर्णय लिएको हो ।
युईएफएले शुक्राबार एक विज्ञप्ति जनरी गर्दै अर्को वर्ष महिला र पुरुषको यू–१७ फुटबल च्याम्पियनसिप आयोजना गर्ने जनाएको हो । कोरोनाको खतरालाई आँकलन गर्दै युईएफएले कठोर निर्णय लिएको बताएको छ । दुवै प्रतियोगिता तालिका अनुसार मे महिनामा हुने तय थियो । साईप्रसले पुरुषको प्रतियोगिता र आईल्याण्डले महिलाको प्रतियोगिता आयोजना गर्ने तय भएको थियो ।
युईएफएले भनेको छ, ‘युरोपका धेरै स्थानमा महामारीको वर्तमान अवस्था हेर्दा सन् २०२१ मा सुरुवाती महिनामा उमेर समुहको प्रतियोगिताको आयोजना गर्न नसकिने भएको छ ।’ युईएफएको कार्यकारी समितिले वार्षिक क्यालेन्डर अनुसार यू–१९ च्याम्पियनसिप भने निर्धारित समयमा आयोजना गर्नेछ । यस प्रतियोगिता रोमानिया र बेलारुसमा आयोजना हुनेछ ।
